THE CHALLENGE

Established in the south-west of Sydney, this two-story home was affected by a large storm that came across Sydney, causing damages to the ceiling and resulting in water intrusion.

MCA Group was contacted to carry out a make-safe assessment and mould remediation. When MCA technicians arrived, it was evident that the ceiling was saturated and had caved in, due the possible shifting of roof tiles.

MCA GROUPS WORKS

During this attendance, the technicians created and issued the Insurer a detailed report outlining their findings. To begin the make safe works, the technicians removed the non-salvageable ceiling plaster, approx. 10m2 and the affected insulation. The timber framework in the ceiling, which had been contaminated with mould, was treated.

Once the affected areas were treated and or removed, the MCA technicians placed a temporary builder’s plastic on the ceiling. Following the remediation and repairs, the technicians performed a full room detail, including the cleaning of skirting boards, using the HEPA vacuum on soft furnishings and carrying out an indoor air quality reading, ensuring the air quality was acceptable. The technicians were able to achieve an ideal reading through the use of air purification units during the whole appointment.

The following day, the plaster was reinstated, and the painters were able to attend and repaint the ceiling. The MCA technicians then re-attended and carried out the steam cleaning of the carpet.
