THE CHALLENGE

MCA Group received an urgent call out to an independent educational facility in a Melbourne suburb. The campus was completed in 1989 and had undergone extensions in the late 00’s.
Plumbing failure occurred at the campus, with a burst flexi-hose affecting 6 rooms. After receiving the initial assistance call, the MCA Group was able to rapidly attend within 2 hours.

The premises was inspected by the attending technician, with a moisture meter and infrared camera in use to determine the extent of damages and calculate the best course of action to assist the campus in returning to normal. The flexi-hose had burst, causing the water to travel down the linoleum flooring of the toilet area,Once the flexi-hose had burst, water travelled from the linoleum flooring of the toilet area, continuing to the linoleum of the hallway, eventually submerging the carpet of 4 surrounding classrooms. The plaster throughout the rooms were identified as being affected, this, along with all other observations were noted in the fully illustrated report.

MCA GROUPS WORKS

The first step that MCA Group carried out, once work commenced, was to extract all the excess moisture from the carpet and remove the standing water from the linoleum flooring. During these works, approximately 68L of water was extracted. After the extraction process, the attending technicians proceeded to go through the affected areas, santising.

Once the excess water was removed, industrial drying equipment was setup in the property, taking care to situate the equipment in a way that was not going to produce tripping hazards for the students and staff in the upcoming days. Over the days, MCA Group technicians re-attended the property to assess the drying progress, finding that while majority of the areas were drying adequately, certain areas were still holding moisture. By re-positioning the equipment, the technicians were able to accommodate the remaining drying, and the drying process was complete within 4 business days.

Following the completion of these works, MCA Group completed a final attendance in which remaining drying equipment was collected and we carried out steam cleaning and deodorising to the previously affected carpets.
